Adoption Process
Getting ready to add a new pet to your family can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. Even if you’ve adopted a pet from a rescue before, it’s important to know that each organization has different processes for adoptions. Here’s what to expect of the adoption process for Kalamazoo Animal Rescue!
- Fill Out an Application: Start by completing the adoption application form available on the adoptable pet’s profile.
- Application Review: Once submitted, our volunteer team will review your application to ensure it’s a good fit. It may take up to five business days for us to gather all needed information, so please be patient! A volunteer will reach out to you via phone or email.
- Meet and Greet: If everything looks good, you’ll be contacted by the foster to set up a meet and greet with the pet you’re interested in.
- Home Visit: For some pets, a home visit is required to ensure a safe environment for the pet. Many people unknowingly have safety hazards in their home, so this is nothing personal – even the wrong type of houseplant can be deadly to a pet!
- Finalize Adoption: If all goes well, you’ll finalize the adoption paperwork and bring your new furry friend home!
