Volunteer with KAR

Help us give rescue animals a second chance! Our volunteers are heavily involved in a variety of day-to-day operations. Whatever talents or interests you have, we’d be glad to have you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Cat Care

Keep our on-site rescue cats happy and healthy while they look for their forever homes! As a cat care volunteer, you can expect to help with:

Feeding and watering
Scooping/changing litter boxes
Cleaning cages
Socializing cats (this is the cuddling and playing part!)

Application Screening

Application screeners help potential adopters find the animals that would be the best fit for their home, family, and/or lifestyles.

Responsibilities include:

Calling/emailing potential adopters
Verifying that applications meet organization requirements

Social Media

Help keep our social media active and up-to-date! We love to share posts about adoptable pets and upcoming events. In this role, you will:

Plan, write, and edit social media content
Collaborate with other social media team members

Fundraising

Every program we offer, whether it’s animal rescue or community spay or neuter days, requires funds. Help us raise the money we need to sustain our programs by:

Brainstorming fundraising opportunities
Scheduling, planning, and hosting fundraiser events
Coordinating with fellow volunteers

Medical Program

Do you have hands-on veterinary experience? We would love your help with giving medications, administering vaccines, and supporting veterinarians during surgery days.

Veterinarians are eligible for compensation as independent contractors. Please contact us directly for more information!

Foster a Dog or Cat

Provide a temporary place in your home to a cat or dog in need – or even an entire litter of kittens!

Volunteer/Foster Application

Our organization relies heavily on our volunteers for day-to-day rescue operations. We are always seeking dedicated volunteers who can commit at least a few hours of their time each month.

Please note the following before submitting an application:

Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult KAR volunteer. The volunteer application should be completed by the adult that will accompany the minor.
We do not provide volunteer opportunities to fulfill community service requirements at this time.
Submitting a volunteer application grants us permission to run a criminal background check with the information provided.
